Overview
After a possession order expires the landlord applies for a warrant of possession so a county court bailiff can carry out the eviction. In some cases the case can be transferred to the High Court for faster enforcement by a writ of possession.
Legal requirements
- Only bailiffs or High Court enforcement officers may carry out the eviction.
- Warrants can be suspended by the court on the tenant's application.
Practical guidance
- Apply promptly and prepare for a possible suspension hearing at short notice.
